Versailles!!!

Yesterday wasn't that cool initially. I had class, then had to re-take a test which wasn't fun. Then lunch at the Croissanterie again. Then I chilled at the center for a bit. Did some computering (including writing my last blog cause I still can't get the hotel internet to cooperate), then i went to the post office. (Yes Gus and Allie your postcards are on their way)

Then met back at the center to go to VERSAILLES!!!! One of the professors was taking her class and invited anyone who wanted to come. Free ticket to Versailles...Hells yeah!!! We didn't get to go in the palace but it was still super cool! Only lame thing...MY CAMERA DIED!!! :( It was super sad but I intend to steal some of my roomie's pictures. The teacher who took us was a history teacher so we got a lot of info along the way. We learned about why it was built, how it was designed, and a bunch of cool stuff. Like how different kings spent time there, and as the line went on the kings kept spending more time there so that eventually the king never left. The nobles lived there, and everything he needed was moved there. It is one of the only cities designed and built in a planned pattern, most just grow organically. We saw the servant quarters, which are now being renovated to office buildings. We saw a pond that was built to drain the marsh from the land, and beyond it where the king put the statue he was given that he hated. Lots of interesting stuff like that.

Then we got food for a picnic. After we all had something we went into the gardens. We walked by Marie Antoinette's room, saw the gardens and fountains...AMAZING!!!! It was so big, the gardens just went on forever, and they were so absolutely beautiful!!! We sat and ate dinner by this giant pond. There was a family of ducks with little baby ducks and Swans with awkward teenage swans (they had their young gray feathers, not the pretty white ones). Then back home to study for my test the next day and sleep.

I wanted to go inside the castle but it was closed and I'm not sure its worth going all the way back out there again. Still, at least I saw it!
