Okay, so I'm really sick of either the picture uploader not working or the internet at the Hotel not working, so I'm gonna try to catch you up a bit before my computer dies. (I'm in a park to use the internet, but far away from a plug in :p )
Anyway, Saturday we went on a day trip to this little town outside of Paris called Provins. We had to be up super early, and take an hour and a half train ride, but it was a good nap time. We got to the city, which is a Medieval city, and it was raining. I shared an umbrella until we got to a Cafe where we had tea or coffee. Then on to the adventures...
Our first stop was these Caverns under the city that were used for many purposes, including hiding out, wine storage, and secret meetings. It was super cool, but super cold since we had just gotten wet from the rain, and it was damp and underground. (as one would expect a cavern would be) One of the highlights of the caverns was that one of the guys in the group mentioned it being like Indiana Jones. I started singing the theme song, and then a bunch of people joined, thus like half the group was singing the Indiana Jones Theme song in underground caverns...made my day. We saw some cool stuff, like how they used to get down into the cavern (lowered through wells), where the workers would put their candles (they were looking for clay), some stalactites forming, some cave carvings (including a world cup fans carving on the wall after France won) and other stuff. The guide told us history about how they used the clay in textiles, and how he though the caverns should be the bat cave in the next Batman movie. He also showed us where a man known as Curious Alfred 1859 had burned his name on the ceiling and written his wine collection on the wall. Oh one more thing (this is for you Aaron), he showed us where the Masons held their secret ceremonies in this part of the caverns with darkened walls.
Moving on, then we all went to lunch at this fancy restaurant and I had this amazing duck (i know weird, but so delicious!) . Then I gave away my free chocolate cake to Chris.
Then we went to this super cool tower castle thing. I got awsome pictures that will hopefully be up soon. (if blog spot cooperates!!!) anyway it was super pretty and we had alot of silly fun. There were all these tiny staircases and there were bells. It was super Medieval. Then we made our way back to the train station singing Beauty and the Beast.
Then we napped on our way back to Paris. Once back in Paris we all chilled out for a bit. Hali and I ate dinner in the room (Hali loves to cook which works well for me!). After that we got ready to go out, watched the end of the soccer game, and then went out to this bar. It was fun, but we didn't stay long. I had fun messing with Chiris' world cup noise maker trumpet thing.
Sunday was really chill. I slept in and then Hali and I got Crepes (woot!) and then went to the Louvre. I have awsome pictures that I will hopefully be able to load up soon. It was sweet, we went through Egyptian, Oriental Antiquities, and the History of the Louvre before it closed. I can't wait to go back!!!! After that we just came back to the room and chilled. We talked about going out and doing something American, but my fellow students in my program suck at planning things. It was nice to chill though, and I hung out with Tracy and Chris. Tracy is really cool, and we went shopping together!!! Super fun, but I'll get to that later.
Well it's super late here so I'm off to bed. I'm almost caught up now with the blog so hopefully the pictures will work soon. ttfn
