Okay so 2 and a half days in one blog! All becasue the internet at our hotel is always dead!!!! now we have a weekend trip so i won't be able to blog for 2 days again. Anywho I want to get caught up before I have to leave at 7am :p
So I left off with my not fun morning on Wednesday. After that Chris and I went park exploring. We found this park near the edge of Paris with this super cool little waterfall cove thing. We walked all around the park and chatted. It was super fun, and they had this mountain track thing for kids to use little toy cars on.
Then we headed back and I began helping out my roomie on making/ preping our room for our Spain worldcup game party. Hali made black beans and rice, Julian made Guac, Chris and I bought chips, Aaron brought bred and nutella, and other people brought other stuff. It was great!!! Then we re-organized the room so that there was room for everyone to sit. Then everyone, litterally everyone in the program (all 18) were in our room watching the game and eating food. Half for Spain and half for Germany. Viva Spain!!! Great game and great fun with great people. plus not so great mess to clean up...
After that some of the girls were gonna go out to this discotheque (disco tech aka club) called Duplex. I wouldn't have gone, but I hadn't gone to one yet, and I had all my homework done so I decided to go. We got all dolled up and then we went out. It was pretty fun. I danced with some french boys, and my fellow students. I headed back pretty early cause of class but it was pretty sweet.
Then Thursday had class, went okay. I had a presentation on Victor Hugo that went pretty well. Then Tracy and I went up the Arc de Triomphe. SO MANY STAIRS!!! But we got in free with our student passes and it was really cool. After that we did a little shopping before I had to run back to the center to get some help with French. Then I went back to the hotel for a nap. I was super sleepy from all the stairs and dancing the night before.
Post nap time Chris and I went to this outdoor concert/ party thing called a "Kiss Party". We got handed an add for it coming off the subway and it said we could get free T-shirts if we had ticket things from the store. So Chris picked up 2 ticket things and we decided it was worth checking out for his video blog and free shirts. So we got out shirts and walked around. There was less kissing than expected but still a lot. We chose not to partake in the kissing part of the party but we danced a bit to the music before we headed out to go do homework/ study.
Now to Friday...We had a test this morning that I studied for, for hours last night, but still managed to do very poorly on. It was very discouraging/ frustrating. First time I've felt really homesick because I'm tired of being frustrated. We had a walk around the Marais for class but I didn't enjoy it much because I was kinda down. We saw places like the Place de Vosage, and the Victor Hugo Museum. We got Fallafel for lunch and then Nicole Karen and I went to the Holocaust Memorial. It was very moving. They had these tiny light bulbs, each one represented a deportee that didn't return. There were like 30 five foot panels covered with them. It was pretty overwhelming to even imagine what number that is. After we got Ice cream to cheer us up.
Then I met with my language partner, nans. We went to a cafe and had a drink and chatted for a while. He is super cool. Then back to the hotel to change and shower.
Then...THE BALLET!!!!!! Tracy and I went and got scalper tickets. They were BOX SEATS!!!! The Opera house was absolutely beautiful. We couldn't stop talking about how amazing it was. The ballet was magnificent! The costumes were to die for (Kandi you would've loved them). The ballet was called La Petite Danseuse De Vega, and it was basically the Vega statue/ painting of ballerinas come to life. SO BEAUTIFUL!!! The costumes, the sets, the dances, all amazing. So worth the money, so the best thing so far!!!
Anyway then back home to pack and sleep before the trip tomorrow. I think that covers it. Till Sunday...ttfn
TTFN!!! TIGGER!!!
